On 21 October 2022, Z-Med – Zahir Vallie’s ambulance services went into one of Cape town’s low-income communities, to provide free health check-ups to residents in the area. Their visit aimed to provide easy access to senior members of the community, who struggles to reach the necessary health resources.
Paramedics from the Z-Med team stated that they intend to launch an ongoing community project for the rest of November, in aid of high hospital admissions that occur during the festive season in Cape Town. During this project, they intend to visit, educate, and assist various demographics of people in the city.
Charne Esau (53), a resident of the community said, “We are so grateful that these paramedics came out here. It’s very hard for us to travel so far to get health care. Sometimes we don’t even have transport to get to our monthly appointments and when we do get there, the long queues take up our whole day.”
The Z-Med team set up their health-check station in the area’s civic centre at 09:00 which remained open for all senior citizens over the age of 50, up until 13:00.
The Z-Group has always emphasized its role in assisting the people of Cape Town. “This new project aims to promote Z-Group’s mission to put the wellness of people first. Z-Med is the perfect kick-off for this new project,” says the Z-Med lead paramedic.
