Z MED is a privately-owned emergency ambulance service located in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, conveniently located near to national highways the M5, N2 and N1.
We have a dedicated team of medically-trained professionals and exceptional support staff, under the decisive leadership of Operations Manager, Paul Sutton. At Z MED, we believe in treating all our patients with dignity and respect, irrespective of their demographic.
We realise that serving our patients is a privilege and we go out of our way to provide professional emergency medical care to those in need.
Our Story
Z MED was established in June 2019 by Zahir Vallie when a gentleman in his neighbourhood suffered a heart attack and waited for more than 4 hours for emergency medical services to arrive. We submitted an application to the Department of Health on the 12th July 2019 to register as an ambulance service and Z MED officially responded to its first call on the 21st February 2020 at 11:41

Z MED’s mission is to provide exceptional medical care to all who require our services. Our plan is to educate the community on our role in the response, treatment and transport of the sick and injured as well as the prevention of injury and illness. We will do this in a fiscally responsible manner as an integral member of the community. Our area of response is the Western Cape, with our main focus being the Southern suburbs.Vision Statement

Our Operating Model
Our emphasis on quality, clinical excellence ensures that our patient’s needs come first. Our clinical team meet on a regular basis to review, implement and discuss policies on patient care and safety.

- Education of our clinical staff to ensure compliance with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Implementation of best practice clinical protocols and guidelines to ensure clinical excellence.
- Assistance with concurrent case management of high-risk cases.
- Interaction with referring and/or receiving specialists/hospitals to ensure optimal clinical outcomes and most appropriate facility.
- Retrospective clinical governance and clinical review of Z MED to ensure compliance with our documented EMS protocols and legal requirements.
